As part of the 2025 Kayokayo Festival in Epe, the First Oke-Balogun Central Mosque hosted a combined medical outreach and special prayer session on Sunday, July 20, offering both health services and spiritual support to the local community.

EpeInsights reports that the event drew participation from over 400 residents, who benefited from free medical screenings, including blood pressure, malaria, and blood sugar tests. Attendees also received consultations and medications at no cost.

The outreach aimed to support the physical well-being of residents, many of whom had not accessed medical care in years.

Barrister Bayo Okulu, the Coordinator of the Kayokayo Festival Planning Committee, emphasized the importance of integrating healthcare and prayer in the celebration. He noted that the festival was not only a time of cultural reflection but also a platform for meaningful community development.

“Kayokayo is not just about cultural celebration; it’s about touching lives, giving back, and uplifting our people. We must ensure that the health and prosperity of our people are given the attention they deserve,” he stated.

During the event, religious leaders led prayers for peace, growth and unity in Epe. Special prayers were also offered for individual well-being and community progress, led by the League of Imams and Alfas from the Oke-Balogun Central Mosque.

The outreach saw the participation of health professionals, traditional leaders, and youth groups who volunteered their time and expertise. Many residents expressed gratitude for the initiative.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Kudirat, a market trader from Ita-Opo, remarked, “I haven’t had a check-up in over three years. This outreach has given me peace of mind, and the free medication is a big relief. May God bless the organizers.”

The 2025 edition of the Kayokayo Festival continues under the theme “Sustaining Our Legacy,” combining cultural pride with social responsibility across a series of events throughout the community.
