The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, has congratulated the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on his conferment with the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Bola Tinubu, GCFR.

EpeInsights reports that this congratulatory message comes after President Tinubu announced the honour in a speech delivered while addressing the National Assembly joint session on the Democracy Day in Abuja.

During yesterday’s address, President Tinubu reflected on Nigeria’s 26‑year democratic journey, honouring June 12 heroes and emphasising a commitment to free speech, transparency, and national unity.

As part of the ceremony, Tinubu conferred state honours on more than 60 individuals, both living and posthumous including notable activists like Kudirat Abiola, Ken Saro‑Wiwa, Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, and prominent journalist Uncle Sam Amuka Pemu.

Among the living awardees, Dr. Tunji Alausa was recognised with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) for his exceptional contributions in both health and education sectors.

Princess Animashaun described Alausa’s recognition as “a resounding affirmation of your excellence, patriotism, and steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s development,” adding that it brings immense pride to Epe.

She applauded President Tinubu for “rewarding merit and dedication to public service,” and expressed optimism that the accolade will spur Dr. Alausa to continue raising the bar in educational transformation.

The Chairman’s message concluded with best wishes for Alausa’s future endeavours and a reaffirmation of Epe’s reputation for producing visionary national leaders.
