Students from the Epe Division made a remarkable impact at the Lagos State Inter-Public School Championship 4.0, held on Tuesday at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos, clinching first place in both the junior and senior school debate categories.
EpeInsights gathered that in the Junior Debate Category, the team from Army Children Junior High School, Epe comprising Kazem Ameedat, Shobi Abdullah, and Emelia Divine — emerged champions with a compelling presentation that captivated judges and audience members alike.
In the Senior Category, Government Senior College, Ketu-Epe secured the top spot, represented by Babalola Arafat, Abdulsalam Samiat, and Roji Aminat.
National President of the Federation of Epe Division Students’ Associations (FEDSA), Comrade Adesanya Ibrahim, praised the students’ achievements, stating:
“This victory is not just for Epe, but for every community that believes in the power of education and youth development. Our champions have proven that excellence thrives in Epe Division.”
The competition featured students from public secondary schools across Lagos State and was marked by articulate arguments, confident delivery, and critical thinking — skills that reflect the growing investment in education within the division.
Organisers have announced that the next edition, Championship 5.0, will take place from June 28–29, 2025, and will be hosted across various locations in Epe Division.
Unlike previous editions, the 5th installment will expand beyond debating to include creative arts, sports, and intellectual games such as chess, scrabble, table tennis, and football — with over 20,000 students from Epe, Eredo, Ikosi-Ejirin, Lekki, and Ibeju-Lekki expected to participate.
According to Mrs. Fausat Kareem, a debate coach at Government Senior College:
“What we witnessed is the outcome of relentless mentorship and belief in our students. This is just the beginning of greater accomplishments to come.”
The championship continues to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing young talent across Lagos State’s public school system.
