Preparations are underway for the 4th Edition of the Ejinrin Youth Organisation’s Annual Intra-Community Football Novelty Match, a much-anticipated sporting event that unites the community and rekindles fond memories of local football glory.
EpeInsights reports that the initiative, which began four years ago as the Second-Day Post-Ileya Intra-Community Football Match, continues to serve as a powerful platform for community bonding, youth engagement, and cultural celebration through the universal language of football.
Announcing the upcoming edition, the organizers paid tribute to Ejinrin’s rich football heritage, recalling the vibrant atmosphere of matches played at the historic Lofi Maracana Stadium and Oju Aje Mini Stadium. “Growing up in Ejinrin Kingdom, football has always been more than just a game, it has been a powerful source of joy and unity,” the statement read.
This year’s match will feature two teams drawn from the kingdom’s four wards.
Team A will comprise players from Oke Ejinrin and Seriki Ward, while Team B will be made up of participants from Ago Ijesha and Obalende.
Each team will be coached by a dedicated trainer tasked with scouting and selecting top talents from among registered players.
Participation is exclusive to registered players who hail from Ejinrin Kingdom, whether residing within or outside the community. These players will be eligible for medals and cash prizes, further adding to the competitive excitement.
Organizers promise to unveil official player lists and additional details in the coming days, urging community members and football lovers to stay tuned.
With the theme, “Building a better community, one step at a time,” the match underscores the role of sports in fostering unity, pride, and development within the Ejinrin Kingdom.
