Against the backdrop of mounting concerns over unity and misinformation in Epe, the Chief Imam of Epe Land, Sheikh Abdulkabir Oriyomi, led hundreds of Muslim faithful in Eid al-Adha prayers, calling for peace, compassion and a renewed commitment to communal harmony.

EpeInsights reports that the solemn Eid gathering, held under tight security, provided an opportunity for spiritual reflection as Sheikh Oriyomi urged residents to draw inspiration from the values of Eid sacrifice, obedience and compassion especially at a time when Epe’s image is under threat from growing internal discord and the spread of fake news.

Addressing journalists after the prayers, Epe Local Government Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun, commended the peaceful conduct of the celebration and thanked security agencies for their vigilance.

She warned against divisive narratives, stressing that fake news and misinformation were harming the reputation and unity of the Epe community.

“Epe is peaceful and full of promise,” she said.

“We must not let false information derail our progress or discourage investors.”

The chairman also extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, echoing support for ongoing national reforms and urging residents to remain hopeful.

Echoing her message, Commissioner at the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Hammed Seriki, made a passionate appeal for unity.

“No community can thrive in division,” he said. “Epe must stand together not just in celebration, but in purpose and action.”

As the Eid festivities wind down, calls for healing, unity, and proactive engagement continue to resonate. For many in Epe, the message was clear: the time for community-driven change and responsible communication is now.
