Lagos State Education District II has distributed a wide range of sporting equipment donated by the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund (LSSTF) to schools within its jurisdiction.

EpeInsights gathered that the distribution ceremony, held at the District Headquarters in Maryland, was led by the Supervising Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike, and attended by representatives from various beneficiary schools.

The equipment distributed included footballs, volleyballs, athletics kits, table tennis sets, jerseys, and other essential gear aimed at enhancing sports engagement in schools.

Mr. Osinaike, while presenting the items, expressed deep appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their continued investment in youth development through sports.

“This initiative is a timely intervention that directly supports Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, especially in the area of Youth and Social Development,” he said.

“Physical education is a core part of holistic learning and with this support, we are confident that more sporting talents will be discovered and nurtured across our schools.”

Reinforcing the theme of safety in school sports, the Elders Forum 19 of Ikorodu also contributed to the day’s activities by donating five fully equipped first aid boxes to selected schools from Ikorodu and Kosofe Zones.

The gesture, according to Mr. Osinaike, complements the government’s efforts in ensuring student safety and emergency preparedness in learning environments.

He noted that the event reflected the synergy between government and community stakeholders in creating a vibrant school culture that prioritises wellness, safety, and all-round student development.

“Today’s event is more than a distribution exercise. It is a shared commitment to building schools that produce well-rounded learners academically sound, physically fit, and socially responsible. This is the future we envision,” he added.

The highlight of the event was a symbolic novelty tennis match between Mr. Osinaike and a student from Ajegunle Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu, promoting unity, fitness, and sportsmanship across the education community.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary schools, Mrs. Vinuyon Buhari, Principal of Eva Adelaja Girl’s Junior Grammar School, expressed gratitude for the donations and pledged that the equipment would be put to effective use.

“We sincerely appreciate this impactful support. It will not only enhance physical education lessons but also motivate students to pursue their sporting interests with renewed enthusiasm,” she said.

The initiative marks another step forward in the Lagos State Government’s broader commitment to nurturing future champions through early sports exposure and robust school infrastructure.Education District II Distributes Sports Equipment to Boost Grassroots Sports in Lagos Schools Education District II Distributes Sports Equipment to Boost Grassroots Sports in Lagos SchoolsEducation District II Distributes Sports Equipment to Boost Grassroots Sports in Lagos Schools Education District II Distributes Sports Equipment to Boost Grassroots Sports in Lagos Schools
