Dabiri-Erewa Mourns Former President Buhari, Describes Him as Symbol of Discipline, Patriotism

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his passing as the end of an era defined by discipline, patriotism, and unwavering service to Nigeria.

EpeInsights reports that a Dabiri-Erewa, in a condolence message released by the Commission’s Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit and signed by Mr. Gabriel Odu, extended her sympathies to Buhari’s family, the government and people of Katsina State and all Nigerians mourning the loss of the former leader.

According to her, the late President Buhari’s legacy will be remembered for his efforts in repositioning Nigeria globally, strengthening foreign relations and promoting the role of Nigerians in the Diaspora in the nation’s development.

“President Buhari’s support for the establishment of NiDCOM in 2019 demonstrated his deep appreciation for the Nigerian Diaspora and his belief in their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the nation,” she stated.

Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians at home and abroad to uphold the values Buhari stood for integrity, patriotism, and selfless service, noting that these principles remain vital to Nigeria’s continued progress.

She prayed for the peaceful repose of the former president’s soul and asked the Almighty to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday July 13, 2025 served as Nigeria’s military ruler from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
