The Gbadewolu of Araromi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Olayemi Lukman Arowolo Arole Oguntimehin I, has intensified preparations for the 2026 Oguntimehin Day and Empowerment Programme.

Epe Insights reports that the monarch disclosed that the annual celebration will again combine rich cultural festivities with a large-scale empowerment initiative targeted at youths, widows, widowers, and other less privileged residents across Araromi Kingdom.

Speaking on the programme, Oba Oguntimehin described empowerment as a critical tool for addressing economic hardship and promoting self-reliance at the grassroots.

He noted that providing practical support remains central to his vision of restoring dignity and hope among his people.

According to the palace, empowerment materials lined up for distribution include sewing machines, motorcycles, catering equipment, hairdressing and barbing kits, makeup tools, and other vocational items designed to help beneficiaries establish sustainable means of livelihood.

A palace official explained that the empowerment drive is structured to reach diverse groups within the community, ensuring inclusiveness and long-term economic impact.

The official added that the programme reflects the monarch’s belief that traditional leadership must actively support social and economic wellbeing.

The 2026 Oguntimehin Day is expected to attract community leaders, cultural stakeholders, and residents, serving as both a celebration of heritage and a platform for practical development interventions.

Community leaders and residents have praised Oba Oguntimehin for his consistent focus on empowerment, describing his reign as people-centred and development-driven.

Many noted that similar initiatives in the past have helped beneficiaries become self-employed and financially stable.

The palace reaffirmed that preparations are ongoing to ensure a smooth, impactful, and transparent empowerment exercise during the 2026 celebration.
