Epe Club Mourns Passing of Former President, Alhaji Ganiyu Adio Akintola

The Epe community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Alhaji Ganiyu Adio Akintola, a distinguished elder statesman, revered public servant, and former President of Epe Club.

EpeInsights reports that in an official statement released on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the President of Epe Club, Chief Olayemi Dada, FCA, expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Club’s executive and entire membership over the demise of the respected leader, describing him as “a visionary, a unifier and a man whose legacy of service will never be forgotten.”

According to the statement, Alhaji Akintola passed away overnight, and his burial was scheduled to hold that same morning in his hometown, Ejinrin, in accordance with Islamic rites.

A man of remarkable distinction, Alhaji Ganiyu Adio Akintola served meritoriously as a Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Ministry of Education, where he was celebrated for his dedication to the advancement of education and administrative excellence.

He later became the Pioneer Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where he laid a strong foundation for effective grassroots governance and community development.

In its tribute, Epe Club described him as “a respected elder statesman, a selfless leader, and a man deeply committed to the progress of his community and humanity at large.”

“As a former President of Epe Club, he will be fondly remembered for his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to unity and development within the Epe Division and beyond,” Chief Dada said.

Epe Club further extended its heartfelt condolences to the Akintola family, the government and people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA and all who were touched by his exemplary life and service.

“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Aljanah Firdaus,” the statement added.

Alhaji Akintola was widely regarded as one of the pillars of public service in Lagos State, known for his integrity, humility, and tireless commitment to education and local governance.

His leadership both in government and in community service inspired a generation of younger administrators and public servants.

Community members and associates have continued to pour in tributes, celebrating him as “a mentor, bridge-builder and advocate of progress.”

His passing marks the end of an era for both Epe Club and the larger Epe Division, where his influence and contributions to public life remain indelible.
