The Council of Mogajis of Eko-Epe compounds has reaffirmed its confidence in the Mogaji Ngeri, Chief Adio Odu-ọlá, pledging unwavering support for his leadership as the Traditional Prime Minister and Regent of Eko-Epe, and backing his role in the emergence of Musiliu Odedeogboro as the new Olu-Epe of Epe.

EpeInsights gathered that this unanimous decision was reached at a sensitization meeting held on Friday, August 23, 2025, at Epe, convened by the Mogaji Ngeri and attended by all Mogajis of Eko-Epe compounds alongside members of the Olu-Epe in Council.

The gathering followed the recommendation of Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), who had earlier suggested wider consultations to ensure unity and transparency in the succession process.

During the meeting, Mogaji Ngeri provided a detailed briefing on the current situation surrounding the stool of the Olu-Epe, particularly the challenges and delays that had trailed the formal installation of the new monarch.

He emphasized the need for collective resolve to preserve the sanctity of the Eko-Epe Declaration, the guiding framework for traditional leadership succession in the community.

After extensive deliberations, the Mogajis declared their total support for Mogaji Ngeri’s actions to date, describing him as a stabilizing force and custodian of tradition at a critical moment in Epe’s history.

They also endorsed the choice of Musiliu Odedeogboro as the next Olu-Epe, affirming that his selection reflects the will of the people and aligns with established cultural norms.

The meeting concluded with calls for periodic engagements among the Mogajis to foster continuous dialogue and strengthen community unity.

Prayers were also offered for peace, stability, and accelerated progress in Eko-Epe. In his closing remarks, Mogaji Ngeri urged members of the community to remain calm, hopeful and committed to peace, stressing that truth and tradition would ultimately prevail in the enthronement of the new monarch.

The development marks a significant step forward in resolving the prolonged succession process and reinforces the determination of the Epe traditional institution to safeguard its heritage while embracing a future of unity and stability.
