In a major step towards improving access to clean and safe water, the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has completed the installation of 25 solar-powered boreholes across communities within the council.
EpeInsights reports that the initiative, tagged “Water for All”, is part of the administration’s commitment to addressing the age-long challenge of inadequate potable water supply in riverine and rural communities of Lekki.
The newly completed boreholes have been strategically installed in communities including Ebute Lekki, Oshoroko, Origanringan, Okunraye, Magbon Segun, Itoke, Lege, Tiye, Imobido, Apakin, Oriyanrin, Otolu 1, Otolu 2, Okegelu, Lepia, Ikegun, Ise, Obada, Imoba Oke, and others.
Engr. Kasali explained that the project was in response to direct requests from residents, stressing that his administration is determined to provide people-oriented infrastructure that meets the pressing needs of citizens.
He also highlighted the sustainability aspect of the project, noting that solar-powered boreholes would help reduce maintenance costs and ensure constant water supply, especially in off-grid areas.
“This initiative is about easing the daily struggles of our people and ensuring that every household has access to clean and safe water,” Kasali said.
“We are building not just for today, but for generations to come” he declared.
Community leaders and residents have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that will improve living standards, promote public health, and boost economic activities across Lekki LCDA.
The council chairman reassured residents that more community-driven projects are in the pipeline, as his administration continues to prioritize social welfare and sustainable infrastructure.
