The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has commenced urgent restoration work at Adeba and Iwerekun Primary Schools following a storm that caused significant damage to the buildings earlier this week.
The council chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, led an immediate inspection of the affected schools, directing swift intervention to ensure learning activities are not disrupted for long. The local authority described the action as part of its commitment to responsive and people-centered leadership.
According to the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan, the council has “a comprehensive plan in motion” to return the schools to a safe and conducive environment for pupils and teachers.
“This is a clear demonstration of proactive leadership and commitment to education. The welfare of students and staff remains a top priority,” Hon. Sofwan said in a statement.
Community members have commended the council’s swift response, noting that timely government action is crucial in mitigating the impact of natural disasters, especially on public infrastructure.
The rehabilitation efforts are expected to be completed in the coming days, with stakeholders expressing optimism that academic activities will resume fully without further disruption.
