A newly constructed 1.3-kilometre road in the Amikanle area of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has come under official review as Lagos State continues its efforts to improve infrastructure across communities.

EpeInsights gathered that a team comprising officials from the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, and the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD) recently conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the Erelu Way/Dayo Eleku/Community Link Road.

The road is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s infrastructure renewal agenda and is designed to improve access within the community, stimulate economic activities, attract new investment and enhance residents’ overall well-being.

During the inspection, the team assessed various aspects of the road including technical quality, adherence to specifications, environmental sustainability, value for money, and aesthetic appeal.

The goal was to determine whether the road was ready for official commissioning.

Leading the team was Arc. Awoyemi Yusuf, Deputy Director at the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit. The group was received by a representative of the construction firm, leaders of the Community Development Association (CDA), and residents of the area.

While the project was generally well received, the team noted a few areas requiring attention. The contractor, CDA officials, and residents all agreed to work together to carry out remedial measures promptly, ensuring the road meets all necessary standards before its formal commissioning.

Other officials on the visit included Engr. A.A. Onafuwa, Deputy Director of Technical Services in the Ministry; Mr. Olusola Ajisafe, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at CERUD; Mr. Ogunkelu Benedict, Assistant Director (Civil); Mr. Matesun, Chief Engineer (Civil); Mr. Edward Noghese, Chief Technical Officer; and Mr. Ogunlana Rowland from the Admin Department of the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit.
