The first group of Lagos pilgrims who took part in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia has arrived safely back in Nigeria, marking the beginning of a smooth homecoming journey for the state’s faithful.

EpeInsights learnt that a total of 423 pilgrims, 179 men and 244 women touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday aboard a Flynas Airbus flight XY9014.

Chairman of the Lagos State Hajj Working Committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Dr. Jebe Abdullahi, in a statement, described this year’s Hajj operations as “fantastic and hitch-free.”

He attributed the success to the unwavering support of the Lagos State Government and the collaborative efforts of relevant authorities.

“We are indeed grateful to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for their continued support of the Hajj operations,” Abdullahi said.

He also praised  the state’s Commissioner for Home Affairs and Amirul-Hajj, for his leadership during the exercise.

Abdullahi acknowledged the efforts of the Saudi authorities, whose initiatives—including the Hajj Pass system—streamlined the pilgrimage experience and helped maintain order and cleanliness in the holy city of Makkah.

Lagos pilgrims were also fortunate to have secured top-tier accommodation, which provided a conducive environment for worship and encouraged good conduct throughout the spiritual journey.

As the pilgrims return home, Abdullahi urged them to internalize the spiritual lessons from the Hajj and allow the experience to positively impact their personal lives, businesses, and relationships.

“This year’s operations have truly raised the bar for Hajj organization, not just in Lagos but across Nigeria,” he noted.

He added that continued collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and other stakeholders will ensure even greater success in future Hajj operations.

Dr. Abdullahi reassured that the remaining pilgrims would be airlifted back home in line with NAHCON’s schedule and that all necessary logistics are in place to ensure their safe return.Lagos Welcomes First Returning Pilgrims from 2025 Hajj
