The Supervisor and Special Adviser for Agriculture in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area have held their first strategic engagement with farmers at the quarterly Farmers’ Forum in Agbowa.

Epe Insights reports that the forum brought together farmers from various communities, creating a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and improved coordination between the council and stakeholders.

The meeting marked a renewed push to strengthen collaboration within the agricultural sector.

In his opening remarks, the Head of Department, Agriculture, Mr. Paramole Hassan, introduced the Supervisor for Agriculture and Rural Services, Hon. Saheed Abass, and the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Hon. Kunle Akintola.

He emphasized the forum’s role in promoting food production and sustainable agricultural practices.

Hassan highlighted the importance of agriculture in ensuring food security and urged farmers to remain committed to initiatives that enhance productivity across the council area.

Addressing participants, Hon. Abass outlined plans of the administration led by Akogun Wale Raji Anomo to support farmers.

He disclosed that an empowerment programme is underway to provide tools and resources for farmers across different categories.

He encouraged farmers to begin early preparations for the planting season and assured them of government support in addressing their challenges.

In his remarks, Hon. Akintola reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to working closely with farmers. He stressed the need for collaboration to drive agricultural development and improve livelihoods.

Further insights were provided by the HOD, who highlighted available support mechanisms, including continuous engagement and participation in agricultural initiatives. He also referenced loan and grant opportunities facilitated by Tokunbo Abiru and NIRSAL.

Speaking on behalf of farmers, the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria in Ikosi-Ejinrin, Alhaji Lateef Ifesanya, commended the initiative.

He also outlined key challenges and called for sustained support to improve productivity and market access.

The forum featured an exhibition of farm produce, including banana, plantain, garri, coconut, smoked fish, and pineapples. The display highlighted the rich agricultural potential of the council area.

The engagement concluded with renewed commitments from both government officials and farmers to strengthen collaboration, boost food production, and drive economic growth within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
