Residents of Epe are set to experience improved public lighting and enhanced safety as the installation of solar-powered streetlights begins across key locations in the community.
Epe Insights reports that the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Epe Constituency II, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, popularly known as Sketel, disclosed this while addressing concerns over the prolonged electricity challenges facing the area.
Hon. Ogunkelu said the issue of unstable power supply in Epe has been formally deliberated on the floor of the House of Assembly, stressing that the legislative engagement is already producing positive outcomes.
According to him, discussions are ongoing with the Lagos State Government and the Commissioner for Energy to ensure the restoration of electricity to affected communities in the shortest possible time.
“The installation of solar-powered streetlights is already underway to improve public lighting and safety across major parts of Epe,” the lawmaker stated, noting that the intervention will reduce security risks and enhance night-time visibility.
He assured residents that efforts to address the power outage remain a top priority, adding that government authorities are fully engaged in resolving the situation.
Hon. Ogunkelu urged residents to remain patient as discussions and technical engagements continue, emphasising that sustainable solutions are being pursued rather than temporary fixes.
Beyond electricity concerns, the lawmaker highlighted other community development interventions, including road projects, transformer installations, and the distribution of palliatives to support residents.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continued commitment to grassroots development, as well as to the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for their backing.
According to Ogunkelu, the combined interventions reflect the government’s resolve to improve living conditions and infrastructure in Epe.
He reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of his constituents and ensuring that pressing community challenges receive prompt attention.
The lawmaker concluded by assuring residents that improved electricity supply and safer streets remain achievable goals under the ongoing engagements.
