The Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in collaboration with OPEB Busy Brain Academy, has successfully concluded a two-day agricultural training programme aimed at empowering youths and young entrepreneurs with practical agribusiness skills.

Epe Insights reports that the capacity-building initiative focused on promoting youth participation in agriculture as a sustainable pathway to employment, food security, and economic growth within the Lekki axis.

The training programme covered key areas of livestock and aquaculture production, including snail rearing, catfish farming, and turkey production, with emphasis on modern techniques and profitability.

Participants were exposed to hands-on sessions designed to improve their understanding of farm setup, feeding methods, disease control, and market opportunities within the agricultural value chain.

Facilitators from OPEB Busy Brain Academy guided attendees through practical demonstrations, ensuring that the knowledge shared could be easily applied after the training.

Officials of Lekki LCDA explained that the programme aligns with the council’s commitment to youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and economic diversification through agriculture.

They noted that agriculture remains a viable sector capable of absorbing unemployed youths and creating wealth when approached with the right knowledge and innovation.

The organisers stressed that empowering young people with agribusiness skills would reduce dependence on white-collar jobs and encourage entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.

At the end of the programme, participants were assessed based on participation and understanding of the training modules.

Certificates of completion were presented to successful participants, marking the end of the intensive two-day exercise.
