The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture reaffirmed its dedication to promoting indigenous creativity and enterprise at the just-concluded Lagos Leather Fair, a three-day showcase of innovation, craftsmanship, and economic potential in Nigeria’s leather industry.
EpeInsights reports that the event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, opened on Friday with a strong message from the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, who commended the creative energy driving the leather sector in Lagos and across Nigeria.
She highlighted the fair as a testament to the government’s ongoing support for homegrown talents and industries contributing to the state’s economy.
“This fair underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to celebrating the vibrant creative minds whose work fuels innovation and job creation,” the Commissioner said.
“We are proud that Nigeria is now gaining global recognition as an exporter of quality leather products, a milestone worth celebrating.”
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka urged visitors and stakeholders to explore the outstanding range of leather goods and fashion items on display, noting the immense potential of the sector to generate wealth, empower artisans and position Lagos as a center of excellence in fashion and craftsmanship.
The convener of the Lagos Leather Fair and Founder of FemiHandbags, Mrs. Femi Olayebi, described the event as a “vibrant and inspiring showcase” of Nigeria’s rich leather heritage and creative potential.
She explained that the fair aims to nurture innovation and build sustainable growth within the leather and fashion ecosystem.
“Visitors have the opportunity to discover new and exciting brands while experiencing world-class artistry. The Lagos Leather Fair continues to attract designers, manufacturers, and buyers from across Nigeria and beyond, further establishing Lagos as a key hub for leather production and fashion innovation,” Olayebi said.
