Swift Rescue Averts Tragedy in Late-Night Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A potential tragedy was averted late Saturday night as four men escaped unhurt from a lone-car crash along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, thanks to the rapid response of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

EpeInsights gathered that the incident occurred at Kara Bridge around 8:45 PM and involved a blue Mercedes Benz (Registration No. GGE 635 XF), which reportedly lost control, leading to a minor crash. No injuries or fatalities were recorded.

What could have easily spiraled into a fatal night-time accident turned into a story of relief as the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene just two minutes after the incident was reported.

“The speed of the response made all the difference,” said a commuter who witnessed the scene.

“It was dark, traffic was building up, but they were on ground before panic could set in.”

The crash comes just hours after another traffic incident occurred on the same expressway, highlighting the growing concern over late-hour driving behaviors on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.

Sector Commander, CC Kehinde G. Hamzat, praised the efficiency of his officers but issued a renewed warning to motorists: “Speeding at night is not just risky, it’s dangerous. We urge all drivers to slow down, stay alert and drive defensively, especially in low-visibility conditions.”

As FRSC officials and other agencies continued clearing the obstruction and managing traffic, the event served as a timely reminder of both the fragility of road safety and the lifesaving impact of coordinated emergency response.
