As Lagos gears up for the 2025 Local Government Elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is calling on all eligible voters to show up in large numbers and exercise their civic duty.
In a public statement released ahead of the polls, the Governor highlighted the local government as the closest tier of governance to the people, stressing its vital role in delivering essential services and fostering grassroots development.
“This election is not just a constitutional exercise, it is a powerful expression of your voice,” the Governor said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged all registered voters to participate peacefully and responsibly, adding that security agencies have been mobilized to ensure a safe and orderly process. Security personnel will be stationed across all polling units and communities to safeguard voters, election officials, and materials.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has given assurances of its preparedness to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.
As Lagosians prepare to head to the polls, the Governor’s message is clear: this is an opportunity to shape the leadership of local councils and play an active role in the future of their communities.
