Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to deliver inclusive and quality education across Nigeria, starting with Lagos.

EpeInsights reports that the Governor speaking through his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, during a courtesy visit by UBEC’s Executive Secretary and Board Members at the Roundhouse, Alausa, Ikeja, stressed that education must remain the foundation of national development.

“In 2025, no child in Nigeria should be left out of school. Education should not be about region, culture, or tradition; it is a fundamental right. If we get primary education right, the future of our children will be secure,” he said.

The Governor pledged Lagos’ commitment to support UBEC’s Smart Model School in Badagry with qualified teachers, proper security, and critical infrastructure.

He also advocated for peer review among states, knowledge sharing, and data-driven planning to ensure every child; including those with special needs is catered for.

On her part, UBEC’s Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, commended Lagos for leading in educational outcomes nationwide.

Garba revealed that the Iworo-Ajido Smart Model School in Badagry is one of the largest in the country, boasting advanced facilities like interactive smart boards and computer labs, but stressed the need for sustained state support.

She further urged Lagos to champion partnerships with the private sector in expanding access to affordable quality education, adding that the state’s model could be replicated nationwide to improve learning outcomes.
