The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a sustainable, transparent, and people-focused housing ecosystem in the State.

EpeInsights reports that the Governor who was represented by the Special Adviser on Housing, Barrister Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, at the Real Estate Discussions and Awards (REDA 2025), held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA,  urged real estate stakeholders to recommit to the core values of integrity, transparency, and quality in practice.

Themed “Back to the Basics – The Future of Real Estate,” the event brought together leading figures, professionals, and innovators from across the housing and construction sectors to deliberate on the evolving trends shaping Nigeria’s property landscape.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed that the growth and credibility of the real estate sector depend on a return to foundational principles that promote trust and sustainability.

“Going back to the basics means doing things right, ensuring fairness in every deal, and building homes that are safe, durable and people-centred,” he said.

“It also means protecting our environment and planning responsibly so that every development adds real value to our communities.”

He described real estate as a cornerstone of Lagos’s development, symbolizing the dreams of families seeking homes, young people aspiring to ownership, and investors driving economic growth.

The Governor highlighted that honesty in transactions, proper planning, and strict adherence to regulations remain the bedrock of a strong and sustainable housing sector.

Citing notable achievements, he referenced the State Government’s affordable housing initiatives across Lagos — from Igbogbo to Ibeshe, Lekki to Egan, and Badagry, where 420 housing units were recently commissioned. He also lauded the efforts of the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) for safeguarding the interests of property buyers and investors.

Sanwo-Olu further emphasized the need to embrace technology and innovation to improve housing delivery, streamline sales processes, and ensure transparency in the sector.

The REDA 2025 event also celebrated individuals and organizations whose work has significantly advanced Nigeria’s real estate industry, featuring panel discussions on sustainability, ethics, innovation, and future trends.

Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated all award recipients, describing their recognition as a testament to professionalism, creativity, and excellence that continue to inspire confidence in Lagos’s real estate ecosystem.

“Our shared goal is to create a Lagos where every home built reflects integrity, quality, and care for people and the environment,” he concluded.
