As the July 12 local government elections draw near, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has issued a rallying call to All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, leaders and supporters across the state: “Go out, engage, and deliver victory.”

EpeInsights reports that at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at Lagos House, Marina, the Governor met with party bigwigs, candidates, and grassroots mobilizers to strategize ahead of the crucial LG polls.

The event drew heavyweights from the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), state and federal lawmakers, party executives, and other key stakeholders.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that winning the council elections is not only a priority for the APC in Lagos, but also a show of support for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

“Every election is local, don’t take anything for granted. Go out and touch lives. Let voters see and know the candidates they’re voting for. Let’s campaign vigorously and ensure our victory is loud and clear.” the Governor reminded attendees.

He added that the APC in Lagos would abide by all electoral guidelines set by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), stressing that the party is committed to transparency and the rule of law.

Also speaking at the event, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, highlighted the importance of unity within the party.

He praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for organizing the special engagement and encouraged all party members to support the officially presented candidates.

“Let’s work together as one big family. Our leader is now the President of the country—let’s make him proud come July 12,” Ojelabi urged.

Veteran party leader and GAC head, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, echoed the sentiment, urging candidates to focus on service rather than personal gain.

“Follow in the footsteps of President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu. Prioritize the people, not personal wealth,” he advised.

Chairman of the APC Campaign Council, Hon. Tunde Balogun (represented by Hon. Razak Ajala), appealed to all aspirants to bury the hatchet and work together in the interest of the party.

Lagos First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, also lent their voices, especially calling on women to be actively involved in driving support at the grassroots.

“This is the time to come out and work. Let’s put our differences aside and show strength,” Meranda said.

As the countdown to the council elections begins, all eyes are on the APC to see if the ruling party can maintain its dominance across the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State.
