In a move aimed at strengthening the legal and justice system in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has donated seven brand-new buses to the Ministry of Justice.
EpeInsights reports that the donation is expected to ease operational challenges and improve the efficiency of legal processes across the state.
The vehicles, officially handed over through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), were presented on Thursday, July 31 and will serve various logistical and operational purposes within the justice ministry.
According to the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), the initiative marks a significant advancement in the government’s efforts to reform and support the judicial sector.
He revealed that two of the buses will be allocated for transporting suspects to and from courts, while two more will aid the operations of the Special Task Force on Human Trafficking.
“The remaining vehicles will be used by legal teams to facilitate mobility across different judicial districts,” Pedro explained.
“This intervention will reduce delays in trial processes, enhance access to justice, and support our prosecutors in carrying out their duties more effectively.”
Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, emphasized that this is the first time the governor has made a direct request for vehicle support to the ministry.
He commended the gesture as a clear indication of Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to institutional development and inter-agency collaboration.
“This effort not only strengthens the justice system but also supports the broader security architecture of Lagos State,” Balogun stated.
The donation forms part of the ongoing reforms aimed at building a more efficient, responsive, and accessible justice system in Lagos.
Legal stakeholders have welcomed the move, calling it a step in the right direction toward improving service delivery and reinforcing the rule of law in the state.
