Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal (Abisogun II), as he marks five years on the throne.
EpeInsights reports that in a goodwill message released on Saturday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu hailed the monarch’s steadfast commitment to the development of Iruland and Lagos State.
“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, my family, the Government and the good people of Lagos State, I extend warm congratulations to Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal on the occasion of his fifth coronation anniversary,” the Governor said.
Describing the monarch as a seasoned administrator and exemplary public servant, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted Oba Lawal’s distinguished record of service from his time as aide-de-camp to then-Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to serving as Commissioner under successive administrations.
“Oba Lawal has dedicated his adult life to service, first as a police officer and later in politics, always working to make a positive impact on the lives of the people,” the Governor noted.
Since his ascension to the throne in 2020, Oba Lawal has earned widespread respect for his visionary leadership, community-focused initiatives, and efforts in maintaining peace and order across Iruland.
Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded the monarch’s wisdom and experience, which he said have helped to usher in tangible development within the community.
“Iruland is indeed fortunate to have such a principled and disciplined traditional ruler at the helm,” he added.
As the Oniru celebrates five years on the throne, Governor Sanwo-Olu prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and divine guidance for the monarch.
“May Almighty God bless Oba Lawal with long life, good health, and many more fruitful years of peaceful and prosperous reign,” he concluded.
