Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated veteran broadcaster Prince Bisi Olatilo on the occasion of his golden jubilee in broadcasting and the 25th anniversary of the iconic Bisi Olatilo Show (BOS), hailing him as a cultural icon and a voice of unity in Nigeria’s media landscape.
EpeInsights reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu, stated this at the 2025 BOS Awards ceremony held in Lagos, where he was honoured with the prestigious Good Governance Star Award.
In his acceptance speech, the Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, stating, “What makes this moment even more special is that it coincides with the golden jubilee of a man whose voice has been a companion to millions of people across Nigeria.”
He praised Olatilo’s contributions to national cohesion through media, describing him as “a bridge-builder, a cultural ambassador, and a living archive of Nigeria’s social and political story.”
The award was presented by the Chairman of the occasion, General Ike Nwachukwu (rtd.), and according to Sanwo-Olu, it was not just a personal honour but a symbol of the enduring spirit of Lagosians.
“While this award bears my name, it truly belongs to the amazing people of Lagos. Governance, at its core, is about service – a daily commitment to making life better for every resident,” he said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also used the platform to highlight major strides in the state’s development. He cited Lagos’ current standing as Africa’s second-largest economy with a GDP of $259 billion (PPP) and outlined the priorities of the recently signed N3.366 trillion 2025 Budget of Sustainability.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment, particularly through transformative initiatives like the Red and Blue rail lines.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth, Sanwo-Olu noted, “Our dream is to build a Lagos where opportunity is not the privilege of a few, but the right of everyone.”
The BOS Awards, a celebration of excellence in media and public service, drew a distinguished audience including media professionals, cultural icons, business leaders, and admirers of Olatilo’s illustrious career.
