The Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has called on Nigerians from all walks of life regardless of social status, religion or ethnicity to unite in the quest for an ethical rebirth that will restore the moral fabric of the nation.

EpeInsights reports that the appeal was made by the Association’s President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan, in a statement announcing the date for the group’s 12th annual summit, which will hold from August 12 to 13, 2025.

Otunba Ojora-Adejiyan noted that recent events in the country have underscored the urgent need to embrace the highest ethical and moral standards, both in private conduct and in public service.

He stressed that the change Nigerians desire must begin with a personal and collective commitment to selfless service, that is neither self-serving nor driven by personal gain, but grounded in mutual respect and responsibility.

According to him, the first step toward this transformation is for individuals and communities to acknowledge their role in the nation’s present state of moral decline and social permissiveness.

By accepting this shared responsibility, he said, citizens can begin to work together to reverse negative trends and create a society where integrity and accountability guide actions at all levels.

In his remarks, the ALARHOSPS President also commended the Lagos State Government for the establishment of the Lagos State Food Infrastructure Company (LAFINSCO), an initiative aimed at strengthening food security and boosting agricultural productivity. He described the move as timely and strategic, particularly in the context of the nation’s economic realities and the pressing need to ensure sustainable food supply.

Recalling the focus of the Association’s previous summit, Otunba Ojora-Adejiyan noted that the 2024 edition, themed “Agenda for Sustainable Development and Food Security,” had significantly contributed to national discourse on the subject, generating policy suggestions and encouraging practical steps towards ensuring food sufficiency in Nigeria.

The ALARHOSPS summit, which gathers distinguished former top government officials, has over the years become a respected platform for examining issues of governance, service delivery, and public policy. Through its deliberations, the Association seeks to provide meaningful input to both state and national development, offering insights drawn from decades of leadership experience.

This year’s summit is expected to continue in that tradition, with participants engaging in frank discussions on pressing national challenges while charting pathways for reform.

The ultimate goal, according to the Association, is to influence a cultural and ethical shift that will strengthen Nigeria’s institutions and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
