A celebration filled with gratitude and pride marked the recent valedictory ceremony of Temu Community Junior Secondary School, where Rep. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, was commended for his instrumental role in transforming the community’s access to education.
EpeInsights reports that what was once a village without a public school now boasts a thriving institution, thanks to a grassroots call to action in 2021, led by Temu Youth Leader Ibrahim Jaiyesimi (Gberefu), and answered by Hon. Raji. Moved by the community’s plight, children trekking long distances for education.
Hon. Raji facilitated the establishment of the junior secondary school, providing much-needed access to learning.
“Those challenging days are behind us,” said Rep. Raji during his speech.
“The seed we planted has grown and is now bearing fruit.”
To sustain the momentum, a new 12-classroom block equipped with furniture is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion before the next academic term in September.
Raji acknowledged the efforts of former Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, for her prompt support in securing necessary approvals for the project.
He also lauded school principal Mrs. Akinrinmade and her teaching staff for their commitment to student success.
The occasion brought together several dignitaries, including Mrs. Mosunmola Adefuye (Chief of Staff to the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman), Mr. Olusanya (Principal of Nazareth College) and members of Rep. Raji’s team including Otunba Wale Olusesi, Mr. Hassan Bashir, Hon. Seriki Olabowale, and Mr. Kaka Babatunde.
In recognition of his unwavering support, the community presented Rep. Raji with a Leadership Award and a special portrait collage featuring graduating students—a gesture of appreciation for a legacy of empowerment through education.
The event not only marked the academic achievements of the students but also symbolized a turning point in Temu’s development, affirming the impact of responsive, community-centered leadership.
