The Lagos State Government hosted its 2025 Job Fair on Friday, drawing more than 5,000 young job seekers, graduates and entrepreneurs from across the state, alongside over 300 organisations spanning key sectors of the economy.

EpeInsights reports that the fair, organised by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, attracted companies from ICT, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, media and the creative industries, offering employment and internship opportunities to thousands of participants.

Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing the tools, skills, and opportunities needed for Lagosians especially youth to thrive in a competitive global economy.

“This Job Fair is more than a recruitment event, it is a strong demonstration of our resolve to build an inclusive economy where no talent is wasted,” the Governor said.

This year’s theme, “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities,” was described as reflective of the government’s vision under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda, which prioritizes youth empowerment through skill development, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship.

In his address, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, highlighted the government’s success in job creation, revealing that over 200,000 jobs have been generated in the last four years through various initiatives.

These include the Graduate Internship Placement Programme, vocational training centres and the recently commissioned Leather Hub in Mushin, which is aimed at transforming creative talent into thriving businesses.

Ajigbotafe also noted that billions of naira have been disbursed via the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) to empower small businesses, start-ups, and young entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale and generate more employment.

“This Job Fair is a promise kept by the Sanwo-Olu administration,” he said, commending employers, partners, and technical collaborators such as Human Capital Partners and Intermarc.

Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, represented by Toriola Abdulafeez, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, urged stakeholders to partner with the government on sustainable wealth creation programs.

Similarly, Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, praised the governor for his visionary leadership and encouraged continued collaboration to drive inclusive prosperity.

The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Olubusola Abidakun, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, and included contributions from Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Boladele Dapo-Thomas.

With a vibrant turnout and participation from leading employers, the 2025 Lagos Job Fair stands as a testament to the State Government’s dedication to tackling unemployment and positioning Lagos youth for long-term success in a dynamic job market.
