Former Ogun State Governor and veteran journalist, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has praised Hon. Tunji Bello for his humility, consistency and unwavering commitment to public service, describing him as a rare leader who values legacy over extravagance.
EpeInsights gathered that Osoba gave the commendation during the unveiling of a multipurpose auditorium donated by Bello to Lagos State University (LASU), Epe Campus.
He said the gesture reflects the values of selflessness and integrity, particularly in an era where public figures often prioritize flamboyant celebrations over enduring contributions to society.
“He chose not to throw a lavish birthday party but instead invested the resources into a legacy of humility and service. That is the mark of a man committed to humanity,” Osoba said.
He recalled that Bello had consistently shown dedication to education, beginning from his 50th birthday when he introduced scholarship opportunities for indigent students in Lagos. According to Osoba, the LASU auditorium is another milestone in Bello’s long-standing mission to empower through knowledge.
“This auditorium is not just a building; it is a lasting testimony of what it means to live a life of purpose,” the elder statesman remarked.
Osoba urged younger generations of journalists and leaders to take a cue from Bello’s example, stressing that true worth should be measured not by the size of parties thrown but by the legacies left behind.
He prayed for Bello’s continued strength and long life, expressing hope that more leaders would adopt a service-driven approach to marking personal milestones.
