The Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State at the National Population Commission (NPC), Barrister Olayinka Oladunjoye, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa Eshilokun I, the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom.

EpeInsights reports that Oladunjoye described it as a profound loss not only for Lagos State but for the nation.

In a statement mourning the revered monarch, Barr. Oladunjoye described Oba Bamgbopa as “a highly influential father figure” whose leadership bridged tradition and modern governance.

“This is not just the loss of a king,” she noted.

“It is the loss of a father, a mentor, and a symbol of cultural continuity. Kabiyesi’s passing leaves a vacuum that will be hard to fill.”

She extended heartfelt condolences to the monarch’s widow, Olori Alhaja Aribike Adewale, and the royal family, offering prayers for strength and comfort during this period of mourning.

“I pray Almighty Allah continues to uphold Olori Aribike and the children. Her husband lived an impactful life marked by integrity, discipline, and selfless service,” she added.

Recalling the monarch’s years of public service in Lagos State before his ascension to the throne, Oladunjoye praised his legacy of discipline, wisdom, and cultural stewardship.

“Even before becoming king, Kabiyesi stood out for his moral uprightness and principled leadership. As a traditional ruler, he remained a custodian of our heritage. His wisdom will be deeply missed,” she said.

She concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljanat Firdaus.
