As part of the week-long celebration marking his 15th year on the throne, His Royal Majesty Oba (Builder) Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom in Lagos State, has officially conferred chieftaincy titles on eight individuals for their service and contributions to the development of the community.
EpeInsights reports that the installation ceremony, known locally as Iwuye, took place on Tuesday, May 27, at the Odo-Ayandelu palace.
The event was conducted according to traditional rites and featured symbolic sharing of edibles, oath-taking, and prayers for peace and prosperity.
The chieftaincy titles are part of the monarch’s effort to recognize and honour key community members who have remained dedicated to the advancement of the kingdom during his reign.
In an interview following the ceremony, one of the newly installed chiefs, High Chief Wahab Adebanjo, Tobalase of Odo-Ayandelu expressed gratitude to the monarch and described Oba Aderibigbe as a leader committed to unity and progress.
“I have always been Kabiyesi’s right-hand man,” Chief Adebanjo said.
“Whenever he sends me to represent him, I do so wholeheartedly. His leadership has been both inclusive and impactful.”
Another honouree, High Chief Abdullateef Shitta, now the Olootu Omooba of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, also praised the monarch’s tenure, offering prayers for sustained peace in the community.
Chief Mrs. Ifarohunke Adebisi Olusanya, newly installed as the Yeye Oluweri of Odo-Ayandelu, described the coronation milestone as a reflection of enduring leadership and community unity.
The week-long festivities kicked off on Sunday, May 25, with a special thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church in Odo-Ayandelu and will culminate in a grand celebration to mark the official coronation anniversary.
Oba Aderibigbe, Yamade I, ascended the throne 15 years ago and is widely recognized for his commitment to grassroots development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment in the Odo-Ayandelu region of Lagos State.
