His Royal Majesty, Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo Ganiyu, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu Kingdom, marked his 15th coronation anniversary with a heartfelt thanksgiving service, surrounded by community leaders, church members and well-wishers.
EpeInsights learnt that the celebration, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Odo Ayandelu Parish, was filled with gratitude and reflection.
The monarch recounted both personal trials and the progress made under his reign, including the establishment of the NYSC permanent orientation camp and other impactful development projects.
“I stand here today only by the grace of God,” Oba Aderibigbe said during his address. He shared a deeply personal story of surviving a severe leg injury that once threatened his mobility.
“I fell into a gutter and damaged my leg badly. I had surgery and by God’s mercy, I can walk again.”
Oba Aderibigbe also spoke about the dwindling number of traditional rulers in the region and expressed gratitude for the gift of life and longevity. “In Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, we used to have seven monarchs. Today, only three of us remain. God has preserved me.”
The service became a celebration of leadership, as several members of the community offered emotional tributes.
Pastor Ajayi Eniolorunda, who led the thanksgiving service, praised the king’s generosity. “Kabiyesi gave us the land on which this church stands. He’s more than a traditional ruler—he’s a father to the community.”
Baale Rasaq Ogunsanwo, visibly moved, shared how the king’s kindness transformed his life. “I was homeless. Kabiyesi helped me get work in the North, and when I returned, he made me Baale and promoted me. He’s my pillar.”
Another resident, an Igbo man, highlighted the monarch’s inclusive spirit: “When my daughter gained university admission, Kabiyesi paid her school fees without hesitation. He supports everyone, regardless of tribe.”
The Iyalode of Odo Ayandelu led a prayer for the king, calling him “a pillar of unity and progress” and commending his collaborative leadership style. “Kabiyesi involves us in decisions and shares opportunities generously. He is not a selfish king.”
The event concluded with communal prayers, as pastors and attendees lifted their voices in thanks and offered blessings for the monarch’s continued reign.
