As preparations heat up for the upcoming July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has revealed it will use a consensus approach to select its candidates.
EpeInsights gathered that NNPP Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Richard Benson, while speaking on Thursday, confirmed the strategy, explaining that the party aims to streamline its primaries by rallying behind its most popular aspirants.
“In areas where we have multiple contenders, others will be encouraged to step down for the strongest candidates to lead the charge,” Benson said.
While a final date for the party’s primaries is yet to be announced, Benson assured that the process will align with the timeline set by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Benson expressed confidence in the party’s chances, stating: “We’re fully participating in this election and are poised to win in our strongholds. We plan to surprise many.”
