The leadership of the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode Division, has paid a familiarization visit to the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya.

The visit, which was held recently at the council secretariat, was aimed at consolidating collaboration between the custodial facility and the local government, particularly in areas of rehabilitation and community reintegration.
Speaking during the visit, the delegation, led by Dr. Abdulrafiu Mustapha, Assistant Controller of Corrections and Officer-in-Charge of the Ijebu-Ode Custodial Centre, lauded the Chairman’s inclusive leadership style.
He noted that the Chairman’s efforts continue to leave a positive imprint on institutions and communities within the local government area.
The delegation seized the opportunity to highlight critical challenges facing the facility, including the rehabilitation of dilapidated inmates’ cells, empowerment programs for discharged inmates to curb recidivism and the provision of basic amenities such as bedding and toiletries.
Responding, Hon. (Dr.) Diya commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Ojo, for his ongoing reform initiatives in correctional institutions across Nigeria.
He expressed willingness to work in collaboration with his fellow chairmen whose jurisdictions intersect with the correctional system.
According to him, “We must collectively support the correctional centres in their mission to rehabilitate and reintegrate inmates, thereby reducing the threat they may pose to society upon release.”
Other members of the delegation included DSC Olaosebikan Gabriel (Admin Officer), ASC I Towoba Rasheed (Admin Officer), and ASC I Bello Faruok Abiodun (Ration Officer).
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to work hand-in-hand towards a safer and more rehabilitative society.
