In a continued push to boost agricultural productivity and food security across Lagos State, the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) carried out its monthly field assessment in Agbowa on Wednesday.
EpeInsights reports that the exercise was part of the agency’s Pre-Monthly Technology Review Meeting (Pre-MTRM) initiative.
The monitoring visit was led by Professor Oluremi Ojo from the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, in collaboration with LSADA’s technical team.
The visit focused on evaluating farmers’ field performance, assessing productivity and identifying challenges impacting agricultural output.
The Pre-MTRM offers an opportunity for the LSADA team to engage directly with farmers, assess real-time conditions on the ground, and provide tailored solutions, including access to tested agricultural technologies.
The follow-up Monthly Technology Review Meeting (MTRM) was held on Thursday.
It brought together unit heads, technical experts, and LSADA management to discuss findings from the field and introduce the next set of agricultural innovations to be shared with farmers in the coming month.
The technical theme for the month was “Early Warning Signs and Surveillance for Monitoring Crop and Livestock Disease Outbreaks in Lagos State.”
Discussions focused on equipping agricultural extension workers and farmers with practical, field-based strategies to detect and respond quickly to threats affecting crops and livestock.
Speaking at the meeting, Director of Technical Services at LSADA, Dr. Isiah Opadokun, stressed the importance of translating field observations into concrete actions.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enhancing agricultural practices through structured training, efficient resource deployment, and continuous monitoring.
Dr. Opadokun further noted that LSADA remains focused on supporting farmers across the state through proactive interventions that not only improve productivity but also enhance livelihoods and ensure the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
