The Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has taken a proactive step toward deepening democracy at the grassroots by organizing a comprehensive training program for personnel who will be directly involved in the upcoming voters’ registration exercise.
EpeInsights gathered that the training, which brought together selected officials, focused on equipping them with the right knowledge, technical skills and ethical standards required to ensure a smooth and credible registration process.
Participants were trained on the proper handling of registration equipment and on guiding residents through the procedures seamlessly.
Speaking during the program, the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), stressed the importance of the initiative, describing it as a deliberate effort by the council to strengthen democratic participation from the grassroots level.
“This training is not just about technical efficiency; it is about integrity and fairness,” Kasali said.
“We want every voter to feel confident in the system. I urge all trained personnel to carry out their duties with honesty, fairness and dedication.”
He emphasized that democracy thrives only when citizens are given the right platforms to participate effectively, adding that voter registration is the first and most critical step in that process.
Residents of Lekki LCDA have welcomed the initiative, noting that it will not only improve efficiency during registration but also boost public trust in the electoral system.
The program underscores Lekki LCDA’s commitment to inclusive governance, civic responsibility, and transparency in leadership.
