The Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has officially presented an arbitration report detailing matters relating to all Minor Chiefs under Part 02 of the Lagos State Obas and Chiefs Law to the Igbogun, Okegelu, and Okun Ise communities.
Epeinsights learnt that the presentation, which took place on August 7, 2025, is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to address communal issues through peaceful and lawful channels.
The report was delivered by Chartered Arbitrator David Kupolati of Privy Solicitors, working alongside the lead counsel for the exercise, Afolake F. S. Roberts, who serves as the Deputy Director of Legal Services at Lekki LCDA.
The arbitration process was further supported by members of the council’s administrative team, including Abbas Toyin, Alice Adekunle, Lawal Akeem, and Ajumobi Folahanmi, who played key roles in ensuring proper documentation and coordination throughout the proceedings.
This development is one of the notable achievements of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) initiative introduced by the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engineer Rasaki Bamidele Kasali.
The ADR Committee, which was inaugurated by the chairman last year, was created to provide a structured and legal platform for the settlement of communal disputes without resorting to prolonged court battles or escalating tensions.
Since its establishment, the committee has collaborated closely with community stakeholders and professional arbitrators to mediate and resolve conflicts within the LCDA.
By bringing together traditional institutions, local leaders, and legal experts, the ADR framework has been instrumental in strengthening relationships among communities and promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
Speaking on the significance of the report presentation, Engineer Kasali reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and transparency in handling community affairs.
He stressed that the ADR initiative would continue to serve as a cornerstone of his administration’s conflict resolution strategy, ensuring that disputes are addressed in a way that upholds the law while preserving harmony among the people of Lekki.
