In a move aimed at safeguarding residents from the spread of diseases and improving environmental hygiene, the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has ordered large-scale fumigation exercises across Ebute Lekki and Okunraye communities.
EpeInsights reports that the exercise, carried out this week, focused on eradicating pests, rodents, and disease vectors that thrive in densely populated and commercial areas.
According to the council, the fumigation is part of a wider environmental management strategy designed to reduce health risks such as malaria, cholera and other sanitation-related infections.
Residents and traders have welcomed the initiative, noting that cleaner and safer environments will not only protect lives but also boost business confidence in the communities.
Market women in Ebute Lekki described the fumigation as timely, stressing that it would help reduce the prevalence of mosquitoes and flies, especially during the rainy season.
Chairman Kasali urged traders, shop owners, and residents to complement the council’s efforts by keeping their surroundings clean and adhering to proper waste disposal practices.
He emphasized that government action alone cannot guarantee sustainability without community cooperation.
“This fumigation is not just about pest control, it is about protecting our people, improving public health, and creating an environment where businesses and families can thrive,” he said.
The exercise underscores Lekki LCDA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and positions the council as a proactive player in disease prevention and sanitation management across Lagos State.
