The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) officially presented Certificates of Return to elected Chairmen and Councillors across Lagos State, marking the formal end of the 2025 Local Government elections.
EpeInsights reports that notable recipients included Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, who was re-elected as Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, along with his Vice-Chairman Alhaji Wasiu Oluwole Dehinsilu.
Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun of Epe Local Government and Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye of Eredo LCDA also received their certificates.
The ceremony, held at LASIEC headquarters, was postponed from July 15 due to a federal public holiday.
LASIEC Chairperson, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd.), emphasized the commission’s commitment to conducting free and fair elections, calling the event a victory for grassroots democracy.
In their acceptance speeches, Anomo and Animashaun expressed gratitude and vowed to continue focused, inclusive governance in their areas.
Additionally, six councillors-elect from Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA received their Certificates of Return, promising dedicated legislative service.
They include:
- Hon. Disu Opeyemi Ajenise (Ward E1)
- Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi (Ward E2)
- Hon. Ganiyu Selim Oluwaseun (Ward F1)
- Hon. Adesanya Shakirat Adeyinka (Ward G1)
- Hon. Oluwo Martins Oriyomi (Ward Q1)
- Hon. Ajayi Samuel Olumide (Ward R1)
With this milestone, preparations now begin for the official swearing-in ceremonies and the commencement of new local government terms throughout Lagos State.
