The Lagos State Government has taken decisive action against regulatory violations by sealing two commercial establishments in Ajah; Better Mart on Badore Road, Off Addo Road and Ashley Mall following breaches of the State’s Transportation, Urban and Regional Planning Development Laws.

EpeInsights gathered that the enforcement operation was a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies, including the Governor’s Monitoring Team (GMT), the State Taskforce, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA).

This joint exercise was part of a broader initiative to ensure strict compliance with state regulations governing urban mobility, building safety, and environmental management.

Speaking on the operation, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, General Manager of LASPA, emphasized the State Government’s commitment to a collaborative multi-agency approach.

She revealed that the Transport Advisory Board comprising relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) was established to coordinate urban mobility efforts across Lagos State.

“The joint enforcement exercise was carried out by the GMT and the State Taskforce alongside enforcement teams from the MDAs of the Transport Advisory Board, acting on the orders of the Governor of Lagos State,” Mrs. Adelabu explained.

She confirmed that the participating agencies included the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Physical Planning, and the Ministry of Environment.

Before sealing the premises, task force officers ensured that all occupants and customers were safely evacuated. Additionally, the Lagos State Building Control Agency demolished several illegal attachments found on the premises.

The action follows an incident last week where LASPA officials on a routine compliance check at Better Mart were reportedly assaulted.

Mrs. Adelabu reiterated LASPA’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the State Parking Regulations and warned that anyone obstructing lawful government operations would face the full force of the law.

This enforcement drive underscores Lagos State Government’s dedication to maintaining orderly urban development, ensuring safety, and protecting the environment for the benefit of all residents and visitors.

The government has assured continued vigilance and enforcement to uphold regulations that promote sustainable urban growth and improved quality of life across the state.
