The Lagos State Cooperative College is set to host its Second Convocation Ceremony from Monday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Provost of the institution, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, during a press briefing held at the college campus.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Ojomu described the convocation as a moment to reflect on the institution’s growth and achievements since its inaugural convocation in 2022.

He noted that the journey has been marked by resilience, determination, and a strong commitment to academic excellence.

The college, which began as a training center catering to a specific sector in Lagos State, has now evolved into a recognized higher institution with a broader mandate.

It now plays a significant role in manpower development and socio-economic transformation, aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda.

Ojomu revealed that 153 students will be graduating from the college’s accredited National Diploma programs in Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Cooperative Economics and Management, and Computer Science.

The college has also secured accreditation for its Professional Diploma in Cooperative Studies from the National Board for Technical Education.

In a bid to further address youth unemployment and poverty, the college recently launched a Premium Nine-Month Technical Training Programme.

This includes a three-month industry-based attachment and is aligned with the City and Guilds of London Institute, offering globally recognized certification.

The programme currently offers training in trades such as Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Plumbing and Pipefitting, and Welding and Fabrication.

The convocation ceremony will also feature the inauguration of a newly completed academic building, a key infrastructure project designed to accommodate the institution’s growing student population.

This building will be officially unveiled by the College’s Moderator and Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, May 14.Lagos State Cooperative College to Hold Second Convocation Ceremony May 12–14, 2025

Activities lined up for the convocation include a lecture titled “Cooperative Management and Socio-Economic Development” by Dr. Olusegun Dada on Monday, May 12, and an Alumni and Students Engagement Programme on Tuesday, May 13.

The convocation will culminate on Wednesday, May 14, with the formal award of National and Professional Diplomas, as well as the conferral of Fellowship Awards by Governor Sanwo-Olu.

With these developments, the Lagos State Cooperative College continues to affirm its position as a key institution for cooperative education, vocational training and community development in Nigeria.
