The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially commenced the sale of application forms and collection of initial deposits for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

EpeInsights reports that in a statement released on Tuesday, the Board’s Secretary, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, confirmed that the Hajj form will be sold for ₦20,000, while the initial deposit required to secure a slot is ₦8.5 million.

He clarified that the deposit amount is provisional, pending final contract agreements with service providers for the upcoming pilgrimage.

Ajomagberin explained that this figure aligns with the preliminary guidelines shared by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) during a post-Hajj strategic meeting held in Abuja last week.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders including Chairmen and Executive Secretaries of States Pilgrims Welfare Boards to review the 2025 Hajj and lay the groundwork for 2026.

To reduce the financial pressure on intending pilgrims, the Lagos State Board has introduced a flexible three-part installment plan.

This initiative is aimed at increasing accessibility and encouraging broader participation in the important spiritual journey.

In stressing the importance of transparency and accountability, Ajomagberin cautioned against making payments to individuals. “All payments—both for the application form and the initial Hajj deposit—must be made via bank draft in favour of the Lagos State Muslim Welfare Board through any commercial bank,” he said.

Pilgrims are then required to submit the draft to the Board’s Accounts Department in exchange for an official receipt.

Beyond the financial aspects, Ajomagberin assured intending pilgrims of a comfortable and spiritually fulfilling experience.

According to him, the Lagos State Government has curated comprehensive packages, which include:

  • Conducive hotel accommodation close to the Haram in Makkah and Madinah
  • Ziyarah (visits to historical Islamic sites)
  • Regular spiritual counselling sessions
  • Daily Nigerian local delicacies
  • Robust medical and welfare support throughout the pilgrimage

He noted that these preparations reflect Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which places high priority on citizen welfare, including the spiritual well-being of residents.

With early preparations now underway, the Board is encouraging interested individuals to act promptly and begin their Hajj process through the approved and transparent channels.
