In preparation for the much-anticipated Lagos State Job Fair 2025 2.0, scheduled to hold on September 11, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment convened a robust stakeholders’ forum on Friday at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja.

EpeInsights reports that the gathering brought together job providers, policy influencers and industry leaders to chart new strategies for combating unemployment in Lagos.

The forum, themed “Passion to Prosperity: Unlocking Youth Potential in Lagos,” underscored the state’s commitment to harnessing the talents of its vibrant youth population and creating sustainable job opportunities.

Delivering his welcome address, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, highlighted the ministry’s achievements in tackling unemployment through various initiatives.

These include the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP), specialized ICT programmes, and the Youth in Blighted Areas initiative.

He emphasized the need for synergy among sectors to deliver greater results, noting that no single sector can solve unemployment alone.

The guest speaker, Mallam Ahmed Landan Gabir, a member of the CIPM Governing Council, stressed the importance of building a skill-driven and digital workforce.

He also called for deliberate efforts to empower women, support persons with disabilities, and unlock the potential of young people to drive productivity and inclusive growth.

Representing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, applauded the initiative, describing it as a practical expression of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda for a Greater Lagos. She urged stakeholders to actively collaborate in nurturing youth entrepreneurs and innovators.

A high-powered panel session featured experts across education, security, finance, manufacturing and engineering sectors. Discussions focused on “Inclusive Prosperity: Gender and Social Equity in Youth Empowerment,” highlighting the need to ensure fairness and social inclusion in employment strategies.
