In a heartwarming show of support for frontline health workers, nurses and midwives in Lagos State have received new professional kits scrubs and Crocs under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

EpeInsights learnt that the kits were presented on Monday by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who also serves as the Lagos Coordinator for the Initiative.

The event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Office of the First Lady in Alausa, Ikeja, brought together top health officials, government dignitaries, and healthcare stakeholders.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of the gesture, describing it as more than a handout—it was a symbol of recognition and encouragement for those on the frontlines of maternal and child healthcare.

“This is a message that we see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you,” she said.

She praised Senator Tinubu for her compassionate and visionary leadership, adding that the Renewed Hope Initiative has already made its mark across all six geopolitical zones. Lagos’ rollout follows the recent South-West regional launch in Akure, Ondo State, where 10,000 kits were distributed.

The kits were handed over to beneficiaries through the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, reinforcing the state’s ongoing commitment to support healthcare professionals, particularly those working at the grassroots.

The event also featured goodwill messages from key figures in the health sector. Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos, praised the initiative’s impact and stressed the importance of equipping health workers with the tools they need to deliver safe and quality care.

“Healthcare must be a right, not a privilege,” she noted, calling for more accountability and engagement within the sector.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, described nurses and midwives as the “heartbeat” of the healthcare system. He said the kits represented both a practical tool and a heartfelt gesture of support.

Also, Director of Nursing Services at the Board, Mrs. Anne Olasumbo Oyesanya, described the kits as morale-boosters and a badge of pride for healthcare workers in Lagos’ over 300 primary health centres.

“These aren’t just uniforms—they’re symbols of dignity, motivation, and professional pride,” she said.

She urged midwives to wear them with pride, reminding them that they are part of a broader mission to deliver healthcare with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

The event was more than just a distribution—it was a reaffirmation of Lagos State’s commitment to quality healthcare and the wellbeing of its workforce.

Attendees included members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), development partners, and representatives from the Ministry of Health.

With initiatives like this, the Renewed Hope Initiative is not just living up to its name—it’s breathing real hope into communities, one kit at a time.Lagos Nurses, Midwives Get Boost from Nigeria’s First Lady Through Renewed Hope Initiative Lagos Nurses, Midwives Get Boost from Nigeria’s First Lady Through Renewed Hope Initiative Lagos Nurses, Midwives Get Boost from Nigeria’s First Lady Through Renewed Hope Initiative
