Lagos Issues Traffic Advisory as ECOWAS Holds Summit in Victoria Island

Lagos State Government has issued updated traffic advisories to minimize congestion and ensure smooth travel for residents and visitors as ECOWAS Summit holds in the State.

EpeInsights reports that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Summit officially commenced today, Monday, May 27, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island.

The high-profile event will run for three days, attracting regional leaders including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced several alternative routes motorists should take during the summit period:

  • From Eko Hotel Roundabout to Lagos Island/Mainland: Use Adetokunbo Ademola Road to the Civic Centre, then turn left onto Ozumba Mbadiwe Road toward Bonny Camp Roundabout. From there, a right turn leads to Lagos Island or the Mainland. The Falomo Ramp near the Law School also provides access to these destinations.
  • To Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku, and Inner Roads: Drivers leaving Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola Roads are advised to use Sanusi Fafunwa Street to connect to Akin Adesola Road. A left turn here leads to Ahmadu Bello Way and Atlantic City, while a right turn goes toward Falomo Bridge or the Law School.
  • Kofo Abayomi Road to Bonny Camp/Ozumba Mbadiwe Axis: From Lagos Continental Hotel, drivers should access Kilimanjaro Junction, then turn left to Bonny Camp or right toward Lekki.
  • Bonny Camp to Kofo Abayomi: Motorists are advised to take Ozumba Mbadiwe Road and turn right at Kilimanjaro Junction.
  • From Independence/McEwen Bridge to Eko Hotel Axis: Use the IMB Junction on Ahmadu Bello Way to connect to Akin Adesola Road and nearby inner roads.

With this summit reinforcing Lagos’ status as a major diplomatic hub in West Africa, residents and visitors are urged to follow official traffic instructions and exercise patience as the event progresses.
