The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Friday flagged off the second round of the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) in Epe.

EpeInsights reports that the campaign aims to safeguard the health of children aged 0 to 59 months across the state.

Addressing a large gathering of nursing mothers, religious and traditional leaders, market heads, youth groups, teachers and other stakeholders at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, Ita Marun, Dr. Sanwo-Olu praised Lagosians for their consistent support of health initiatives and cooperation with health workers.

She urged continued collaboration as healthcare teams go from house to house to administer polio and other vaccines.

The First Lady also commended the dedication and resilience of health workers in Lagos State, recognizing their vital role in building a healthier and more productive society.

In his keynote address, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, mni, emphasized the importance of the immunization exercise.

He noted that following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the resurgence of various preventable diseases has reinforced the need for sustained vaccination efforts.

Dr. Mustafa reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery, particularly for children.

He called on religious bodies, schools, markets, and community leaders to support and welcome the health teams who will begin administering vaccines from Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Among the vaccines to be administered during the campaign is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, targeting children under the age of nine, to protect against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
