The peaceful town of Ladaba, nestled under Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, was transformed into a vibrant hub of culture and tradition as it hosted the 2025 edition of the Ojude Oba Festival.

EpeInsights reports that it was a colorful celebration held in honour of the town’s royal father, HRM Oba Nureni Sikiru Odedina (Alugbin I), the Oniladaba of Ladaba Kingdom.

The annual event, which took place at the Ladaba Palace, drew a diverse crowd of monarchs, baales, political leaders, community members, and cultural enthusiasts from across the Yoruba nation. It was a day of pageantry, music, tradition, and above all, unity.

In his royal address, Oba Odedina described the Ojude Oba celebration as a time of reunion and cultural reflection.

“Ojude Oba is a day of reuniting and celebrating as one big family and community, especially after everyone has observed Ileya in their various homes,” he said.

“It strengthens our bond, revives our cultural values, and reminds us of who we are as a people.”

The monarch also offered heartfelt prayers for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of Ladaba Kingdom, while expressing appreciation to all guests and indigenes for their unwavering support.

The festival was graced by several distinguished guests, including HRM Oba Kazeem Adesina Salami, Osobia of Makun-Omi, who lauded Oba Odedina’s leadership and encouraged Ladaba residents to remain united behind their king.

“Kabiyesi is a pillar of unity and progress,” he said. “Let the people of Ladaba remain supportive and loyal to his vision.”

Also in attendance was HRM Oba Adeleke Akibu Ismaila, Adengbin of Lepia Kingdom, who reminded the people that “the power of a community lies in its unity with the king.”

Other dignitaries included Oba Makun and Hon. Adam, Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who described Oba Odedina as “a leader of integrity and wisdom whose reign continues to bring stability to Ladaba Kingdom.”Ladaba Comes Alive with Culture and Unity at 2025 Ojude Oba Festival

A major highlight of the day was the colourful regberegbe (age-group) and family cultural competition, where prizes were awarded to the most outstanding groups for their creativity and dedication to promoting Yoruba heritage.

From traditional attires and vibrant music to displays of communal pride, the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival was more than just a celebration, it was a powerful reminder of Ladaba’s cultural roots, royal pride and collective strength.

As monarchs and guests echoed throughout the day, when a community stands united behind its king, the road to peace and development becomes a shared journey.
