Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Flags Off One-Month Skill Acquisition Programme for Youths

Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has launched a One-Month Intensive Skill Acquisition Programme targeted at empowering youths and women across the council area.

EpeInsights reports that the sensitisation and flag-off ceremony, which took place on Monday, October 20, 2025, marked the formal commencement of the empowerment initiative spearheaded by the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu, who represented the Executive Chairman, applauded participants for embracing the opportunity.

He urged them to approach the training with commitment and seriousness, describing it as a lifetime investment capable of transforming their fortunes and contributing to community growth.

“This initiative is part of our administration’s drive to equip our youths and women with sustainable skills that will make them self-reliant. The knowledge you acquire here will remain with you forever, use it wisely,” Dehinsilu said.

Also addressing participants, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Hassan Mustapha, encouraged them to be disciplined, focused, and dedicated throughout the training.

He emphasized that the council would continue to prioritize human capital development as a tool for eradicating poverty and unemployment.

The event was graced by top council officials including the Chief of Staff, Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem and the Head of the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Department, Mrs. Somoye, alongside members of management staff and programme facilitators. The facilitators assured the participants of engaging, practical and quality-driven training sessions designed to enhance employability and entrepreneurship skills.

Participants, who spoke with enthusiasm, expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for his vision and commitment to youth empowerment. They pledged to maximize the opportunity and contribute meaningfully to the development of the LCDA.

For ease of participation and effective learning, the training will be conducted across two key centres, the Ketu-Ereyun Community Town Hall for trainees from Ejinrin District, and the Council Secretariat Multipurpose Hall for participants from Ikosi District.

The programme, themed “Empowering Minds, Building Sustainable Livelihoods,” covers a variety of vocational disciplines including Hairdressing, Fashion Design, Catering, Make-over & Gele Tying, Barbing, and Soap Making.

The initiative underscores the Anomo administration’s unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment, women development and youth inclusion in socio-economic progress.

With this bold step, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo continues to consolidate on his administration’s gains and expand possibilities for a more self-reliant, skilled, and productive Ikosi-Ejinrin community.
