Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has joined forces with the Lagos State Government to advance the 2025 edition of the “Trees for Lagos” campaign, a flagship environmental initiative aimed at promoting climate resilience, cleaner air and healthier communities.

EpeInsights reports that the tree planting exercise, held at the LCDA Secretariat in Agbowa, was spearheaded by the Executive Chairman, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, and attracted key stakeholders, including the First Lady of Ikosi-Ejinrin, Dr. Olajumoke Ajoke Anomo, Vice-Chairman Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu, Chief of Staff, councillors, senior management staff and officials from the Department of Environment.

In a coordinated effort, participants planted seedlings across strategic areas within the council premises, symbolising both environmental stewardship and a long-term investment in the community’s well-being.

Addressing attendees, Chairman Anomo highlighted the significance of the initiative, describing tree planting as an act of generational responsibility.

“This is more than just putting a seed in the ground. It is about planting hope, ensuring our children breathe cleaner air and creating a legacy of health and sustainability,” he said.

He further pledged to extend the exercise beyond ceremonial events, committing to a ward-by-ward tree planting rollout that will ensure every community in Ikosi-Ejinrin benefits from greener spaces.

According to him, the council’s actions are directly in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s environmental vision, which seeks to embed climate adaptation and green infrastructure into the fabric of local governance.

Environmental experts at the event also emphasised the wide-reaching benefits of tree planting from reducing carbon emissions and providing shade to curbing erosion and supporting biodiversity.

The campaign reinforces the LCDA’s promise to work collaboratively with the state to tackle the growing threats of climate change while improving the quality of life for residents.

With Ikosi-Ejinrin’s renewed commitment, the “Trees for Lagos” initiative is set to leave a lasting mark not only on the environment but also on the social and economic health of the community.Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Deepens Commitment to Greener Future with 2025 Tree Planting Campaign
